Turkmenistan intends to continue strengthening of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan, based on strong traditions of friendship and good neighborly relations between the two fraternal peoples, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at the meeting with the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, Rovnag Abdullayev, in Ashgabat.
They discussed various aspects of economic cooperation and prospects for implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects, in particular in the energy sector.
The sides noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are taking steps to boost efficient development of their rich hydrocarbon fields, diversification of energy supplies to the world markets, including those from the Caspian region.
"Consolidation of efforts of the two neighboring countries in this field aims to help address today’s most pressing challenges, such as strengthening of energy security in Europe and Asia as well as creating conditions for global sustainable development," Trend cited the government of Turkmenistan as saying.
