The Palestinian radicals of Hamas issued a statement according to which Israeli hostages would be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.
The statement came amid increased attacks by the Israeli military on the Gaza Strip. Israel also announced that a ground operation in the Palestinian enclave will be carried out. According to a representative of the country's authorities, this operation is dictated by the interests of state security.
