Head of Iranian Tax Administration resigns

The head of the National Tax Administration of Iran, Ali Askeri, resigned, the agency ISNA reports.

According to media reports, the reason for his resignation was the recent pressure exerted on him.

Ali Askeri was elected the head of the Tax Administration in 2009. He was the only official from the former composition of the government.

The local press names the Director General of Sepah Bank, Kamel Taghavi Nejad, as the candidate for the vacant position, Trend reports.
