Heads of Customs Services to consider timing of Customs Code adoption

The 64th session of the CIS Council of Heads of Customs Services was held in Minsk today.Eleven delegations took part in the event, including representatives of Belarus' Customs, the customs services of Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Lithuania, Latvia, and Moldova.

The draft Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will be coordinated as scheduled, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Belarus Yuri Senko said.

“The Customs Code of the Eurasian Economic Union has been nearly drafted. Some positions remain uncoordinated. Experts are currently working on them. I think we will be able to coordinate the document within the schedule set by the Prime Ministers of the CIS countries and this legislative instrument, so needed for the Union, will be ready,” BelTA cited Yuri Senko as saying.

According to the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, before the norms become a law, they should be trialed to see their efficiency for the economies of all the EEU member states.

EEU governments must approve the draft Code until September 20.
