German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas intends to visit Ankara and Istanbul on September 5-6, the DPA agency reported citing its own sources, noting that it would happen three weeks before Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's state visit to Germany.
The Foreign Minister will hold talks in Ankara, as well as take part in events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the founding of the German school in Istanbul.
This visit will mark the beginning of a series of meetings between members of the governments of the two countries. On September 21, the finance ministers of Germany and Turkey are expected to hold talks in Berlin, TASS recalls.
On September 28-29, Erdogan is expected to arrive in the German capital, while in October Germany will be visited by German Economy and Energy Minister Peter Altmaier.
