The historical and cultural conference titled 'The Heirs of Victory' dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Moscow on the initiative of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR), Leyla Aliyeva

The event was held in the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 on Poklonnaya Hill, it was attended by  the AMOR activists, war veterans, as well as students of Moscow leading universities.

At the beginning of the conference, the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to internationalist soldiers on Poklonnaya Hill took place.

AMOR Board member Emin Hajiyev greeted the participants of the conference on behalf of the  Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR), Leyla Aliyeva.

"Azerbaijan played a decisive role in the victory over German fascism, because if the Azeri oil industry did not exist, the results of the war could be completely different. It was our common victory - the victory of all the peoples of the former Soviet Union," AzerTAc cited him as saying.

Hajiyev recalled with regret that since the end of the last century the Azerbaijani people have been forced to solve the Karabakh conflict. "Azerbaijan is a peace-loving country and that is why we want a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," he stressed.

The veterans expressed sincere gratitude to AYOR and personally to its leader Leila Aliyeva for organizing and holding this meeting.
