Brigadier-General Munir Amar has been killed in a plane crash, Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon informs.
A private light aircraft he was flying crashed into a mountain shortly after the departure from the Haifa Airport. No one was on board the aircraft except for the commander.
"Munir's death is a great loss for his family, friends and the Druze community, but it is also a great loss for the State of Israel and its army. May his memory be blessed,'' RIA Novosti cites Ya'alon as saying.
