A law "On the development of mountainous regions", according to which the number of benefits will be introduced for the inhabitants of the mountains in Georgia, came into force today. In particular, families living in the highlands will receive a monthly allowance of 100 laris (about $42) for the birth of their first and second children, and for a third child parents will be receiving 200 laris over the course of two years.

Individuals are free from paying income tax and property tax, and entrepreneurs working in the highland settlements are free from income and property taxes.
