Hollande: France and Russia may become allies in Syria

French President Francois Hollande has made a statement in an interview with Arte that Russia and France may become allies in Syria.

"At the moment, Russia is not our ally, it is Bashar al-Assad’s ally. It is not the same thing,’’ Tass cites him as saying.

"But tomorrow Russia may become an ally of France, and I support it. That's what I told President Vladimir Putin during the negotiations: ‘‘Russia should become a partner in the search for a political solution, as well as to airstrike Islamic State if it is necessary,’’ Hollande said.
