Stavropol became the first Russian city, where the Holy Fire from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem was delivered.
A charter flight with the representatives of the pilgrimage mission landed at the International Airport of Stavropol at 21:00 Moscow time.
An icon-lamp from Jerusalem was handed over to Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk. He will deliver the fire to the Kazan Cathedral of the regional capital, where the Easter service will be held. Further, the Holy Fire will be taken to the parishes of the region, as well as to the nearest republics of the North Caucasus.
