Hovhannes Zanazanyan passes away


Famous football player Hovhannes Zanazanyan has passed away today at the age of 69, the press service of the Armenian Football Federation reports. 

The athlete died after a severe and prolonged illness.

Hovhannes Zanazanyan was born in 1946. He achieved his greatest success when he was playing for FC Ararat (Yerevan). He was the captain of this football team for a long period of time. As a member of the team, Zanazanyan became champion of the USSR in 1973, the runner-up in 1971 and the USSR Cup in 1973 and 1975. The player was invited to the national team of the Soviet Union, which won third place at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. In 1971 and 1973 Hovhannes Zanazanyan became one of the best football players of the USSR, Novosti-Armenia reports.
