Hungary issues permits for NPP construction by Russia

The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority has issued the required permits to begin main construction of the Paks-2 NPP, the Rosatom press service reported.

"The Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority issued permits allowing the pouring of the first concrete into the foundation of Unit 5 of Paks NPP, as well as the construction of nuclear island buildings," the report said.

Work is scheduled to begin in February 2026.

The Paks-2 project will be the first project in the European Union.
