ICAO bans transportation of lithium-ion batteries in check-in luggage

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has banned the transport of lithium-ion batteries in cargo compartments. It is known that the ban enters into force on April 1st of 2016.

The reason for such a decision is the fact that during flights, lithium-ion batteries can easily ignite, which threatens the safety of the aircraft.

It is worth mentioning that lithium-ion batteries are used in modern mobile phones and laptops.
