IRGC may be banned in UK

The UK may add the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to its list of banned organizations, according to The Times.

The government plans to draft and present the legislation to parliament in 2026, as reported by The Times.

However, the publication notes that neither MI6 nor the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office support the plan to blacklist. Diplomats and intelligence officials reportedly fear the move would "destroy diplomatic channels" with Tehran and could lead to the expulsion of British diplomats from Iran.

This development follows an announcement the previous day by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, that the EU has decided to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
