ISIS have destroyed part of the Roman amphitheatre in the ancient city of Palmyra, Syrian officials have confirmed.
Syria’s antiquities chief, Maamoun Abdulkarim, said ISIS had demolished the Tetrapylon and damaged the facade of its Roman theatre.
The militant group controls the site after capturing it in December 2016 for a second time from Syrian government forces.
