Ibrahim Colak: Baku's organization of international tournaments gets better every year

Baku's organization of international tournaments is getting better every year, the Turkish gymnast Ibrahim Colak, who became today the champion of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in ring exercises, told the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.

"I was in Baku at the First European Games in 2015. Then everything was great, and now it's even better. I really like the Village of athletes. Sometimes we play there table tennis, table hockey and generally spend a lot of time together, we constantly communicate. It's great, "he stressed.

Ibrahim Colak is very pleased with the second medal won at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku (he won the first one yesterday together with Ahmet Onder and Ferhat Arican in the team competition). "I really wanted it. The main thing is 'gold' in ring exercises, as it's my favorite discipline. I believed in myself, performed without mistakes and very happy now," the Turkish gymnast admitted.

Ibrahim Colak is an unusual gymnast, as he came to the sport very late. "I started to do gymnastics 5 years ago, and now I'm 22 years old and I'm studying at the university in Izmir at the Faculty of Physical Culture," he said, adding that his next international tournament will be in China.

He also warmly described the Russian-Turkish relations. "These two people, two countries are always together. It's wonderful, and I'm happy about it," Ibrahim Colak said.

The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games are held in Baku from May 8 to 22. Athletes will compete at 16 sports facilities in 20 types of sports - 17 Olympic and three non-Olympic ones. Competitions in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics were included in the program of Islamic Solidarity Games for the first time at the initiative of the First Vice President of Azerbaijan, President of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Mehriban Aliyeva.
