2021 was successful for Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev said addressing Azerbaijani citizens on New Year’s eve. "We have achieved all the goals set for the year. Azerbaijan was developing successfully, and today the world sees a more powerful Azerbaijan," the head of the state said.
"We are strengthening our positions in the international arena. Our global prestige has increased, we have carried out successful activities within the framework of several international organizations. The whole world has acknowledged the results of the Second Karabakh war. I believe that the processes that took place after the war have once again proved to the whole world that we are right. It is very important because during the Second Karabakh war groundless accusations were brought against us. None of these accusations was confirmed, and the post-war period once again proved our case. Therefore, I think that acceptance of military and post-war realities can be considered as an important political achievement, "Ilham Aliyev emphasized.
"As for activities in the international arena, I must say that our relations with neighbouring states have developed successfully. These ties are traditionally built on friendship and cooperation. The Shusha Declaration, signed this year with Turkey, officially raises the Turkish-Azerbaijani relations to the level of alliance, although in fact, we have been allies for a long time already. However, our partnership was officially confirmed, and the signing of this declaration in the city of Shusha had a special meaning. Our ties with Russia are successfully developing. I am sure that in the coming period our relations with Russia will also officially rise to a higher level. Through constant contacts, exchange of views, our friendly partnership with other neighbors - Iran and Georgia - have developed even more. A platform of multilateral cooperation is already being formed in the region, and this, of course, meets our interests, " the President of Azerbaijan said.
