Ilham Aliyev: Armenian citizens' illegal travel to Karabakh must be stopped

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev drew attention today to the illegality of Armenian citizens' travel to the liberated Azerbaijani lands without the appropriate permission of the Azerbaijani authorities. This is how he reacted to reports on the visit of Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan to Khankendi.

"I was informed that the Armenian Foreign Minister visited Khankendi. Let them not forget about the war. These visits must be stopped," he said during a video meeting dedicated to the results of 2020.

Ilham Aliyev drew attention to the fact that illegal visits of Armenian officials to Azerbaijan harm the post-war process of peace stabilization in the South Caucasus, which is being conducted with the participation of Russia.

Russia has provided the parties with its mediation opportunities. A delegation of representatives of the Russian government, which recently visited Armenia and Azerbaijan, mainly discussed these topics. If relations are normalized, then why such provocative visits? What do they want to show?" the head f state asked.

The Azerbaijani leader recalled that no foreign citizen, no international organization can visit this territory without the republic authorities' permission, with the exception of the Red Cross. Ilham Aliyev warned that if Armenia continues to organize such political sabotage, Azerbaijan's response will be very tough.
