Ilham Aliyev: Armenian leaders' statements hinder normalization of Baku-Yerevan relations

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, speaking with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken by phone, accused the Armenian leadership of contradictory statements that negatively affect the process of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan, the presidential press service reported.

"The head of state noted that despite the efforts and negotiations in this direction, the contradictory statements by Armenian leaders in recent days have a negative impact on the normalization of relations between the two countries and the advancement of the peace agenda," the statement reads.

Ilham Aliyev also said Blinken's continuous attention to the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the efforts the U.S. was making in this direction were highly appreciated.

The U.S. Secretary of State, in turn, reaffirmed the determination of the U.S. to contribute to the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
