Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan integrating North-South and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars transport corridors

Azerbaijan is working to integrate the North-South and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars transport corridors, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad official opening ceremony in Baku.

"We work to integrate the North-South and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars transport corridors. Azerbaijan also takes important steps to create the North-South transport corridor," President Aliyev said. He noted that all works in connection with the North-South railroad project on the territory of Azerbaijan have been completed.

The President stressed all infrastructure was ready, adding that Azerbaijan provided technical and financial assistance to other countries in building necessary infrastructure.

"The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project means restoration of a part of the historic Silk Road, and China, Kazakhstan, Central Asia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and European countries will be using it. The North-South transport corridor will unite India, Pakistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and European countries. Azerbaijan is an active participant in both projects and is allocating its financial resources,” President Aliyev added.
