Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev ordered the recall of the republic's ambassador to Oman, Shahin Abdullayev, from his post. The President has already signed the corresponding document.

According to another subsequent order, Rashad Ismailov has been appointed ambassador to the sultanate.

It is not yet known whether Abdullayev will retain the position of head of the diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia and Ambassador to Bahrain.

Earlier in April, a meeting was held between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Oman, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi in Uzbekistan.
