President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated his US counterpart Barack Obama on his birthday and wished him strong health and happiness.
"Azerbaijan and the United States are bound together by ties of friendship, cooperation and strategic partnership. The active cooperation in the fight against global threats and terrorism, in ensuring energy security, in peacemaking missions in hot spots are the main factors of our partnership," the message posted on the website of the President said.
Ilham Aliyev praised Obama's contribution to the development of bilateral relations and expansion of mutual activities between Baku and Washington.
"We also hope that the efforts of the United States, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, and your personal efforts, Mr. President, towards ensuring the just and soonest peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will produce results," Interfax-Azerbaijan cited him as saying.
