Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated the Orthodox community of the republic on the approaching Christmas.
"In Azerbaijan, known as a model of tolerance and a space of dialogue between civilizations and cultures, religions have coexisted in peace, mutual respect and trust for centuries. The peoples and ethnic communities of the country, representing different cultures, have demonstrated invincible love for the motherland, unity and solidarity, united around the idea of Azerbaijan," 1news.az quotes him as saying.
The Head of the Republic stressed that the preservation of ethnic and cultural diversity, and support and promotion of multiculturalism is one of the aims of the state policy of Azerbaijan.
