Ilham Aliyev explains to Serzh Sargsyan what democracy means

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev responded at a joint press conference in Baku with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, to the accusations of the Armenian President, Serzh Sargsyan.

"He can’t talk about democracy, because he was just appointed by a former president in 2008, though they allegedly conducted elections," Ilham Aliyev said.

"How many people were killed during the elections held in Armenia in 2008? So this person shouldn’t speak about it at all. As for putting Armenia and Azerbaijan on the same scales, I think that such an accusation would have been more natural from Azerbaijan. Because the international community must clearly distinguish between an occupier and a country that was subjected to occupation," the head of Azerbaijan said.

"The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan has the same value as the territorial integrity of any other country," the head of Azerbaijan said, noting that an early settlement of the conflict based on the relevant law and the resolutions of the Security Council will be good for all the people in the South Caucasus.
