Ilham Aliyev meets new ambassadors of Israel and Latvia

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the credentials of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel, Dan Stav.

The diplomat pointed out the favorable conditions created in Azerbaijan for the accommodation of different nationalities in peace and harmony, and praised the tolerance in the country.

In his turn, Ilham Aliyev said that the Jewish people enjoy the same benefits as the other peoples in Azerbaijan in terms of tolerance and multiculturalism. The president noted that the Jewish community actively participates in the economic and cultural life of Azerbaijan. During the meeting the sides discussed the prospects for cooperation in the economic, energy, high-tech, agricultural and cultural spheres.

The Azerbaijani President also today received the credentials of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Juris Maklakovs, and discussed bilateral relations.

Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that during the work of Maklakovs in Azerbaijan as the head of the diplomatic mission these relations will be even more effective. The Ambassador, in his turn, said that the economic cooperation with Azerbaijan is a priority for Latvia.

The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation in various fields, Interfax-Azerbaijan said.
