Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Pedro Agramunt, today.
The head of state congratulated him on his election as the head of the Assembly and described his visiting Azerbaijan shortly after his election as a good sign of the bilateral cooperation.
Ilham Aliyev noted that the cooperation with the organization has a 15-year history and stressed that Azerbaijan as a the PACE member continues its contribution to the positive development processes. He also expressed confidence that the partnership would advance to a new level of development.
Pedro Agramunt, in his turn, stressed that it is one of his first foreign visits after his election to this post, adding that Azerbaijan is of great importance to him. PACE President said that Azerbaijan is an important country from the point of view of resolution of some issues.
The sides drew attention to the good opportunities for expanding relations between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe on the basis of mutual trust and respect, and discussed a number of issues related to the development of cooperation, Trend reports.
