The relations between neighbors should be normal, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said, making press statements with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"We are determined to normalize these relations, and after the second Karabakh war it was Azerbaijan that proposed to start working on a peace treaty. This work has practically started, but it is not going as smoothly as we would like it to," he said, stressing that there is no alternative to it.
"Even despite the 30-year occupation and the deprivations suffered by the Azerbaijani people, as well as the ruins we have to restore now, the relations between neighbors should be normal," Ilham Aliyev said.
According to the head of state, Baku believes that it is possible to reach a peace agreement, which will help them turn the page of perennial enmity.
