On Heydar Aliyev's Memorial Day Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev shared on his Twitter page a quote from the national leader of the Azerbaijani people.
"For me, to defend the independence of Azerbaijan, to preserve it, to make it eternal is more than life", the publication says.
Earlier, the head of Azerbaijan with his family visited the grave of Heydar Aliyev on the Alley of Honor.
The founder of the modern independent state of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev, died 18 years ago, on December 12, 2003. Today the memory of the national leader is honored in the country.
