President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has congratulated President of France Francois Hollande on the national holiday of the country.
"On behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my sincere congratulations to you and the people of France in your face on the national holiday of the country. The current level of Azerbaijan-France relations is encouraging. Our high level political contacts, mutually profitable economic cooperation, stable cultural and humanitarian ties are important factors demonstrating the friendship between the two countries and nations. I am convinced that your recent visit to Azerbaijan, the negotiations held and the letter of intentions on Azerbaijani-French university that was signed will attach a great impulse to development of bilateral relations," Trend reports.
Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of France's interest in peace and stability in the South Caucasus. "We lay great hopes on the efforts of France, as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, and personally you, Mr.President, in ending the occupation of our lands which were seized as a result of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, return of over a million of our compatriots that were turned to refugees and displaced persons to their native lands," he said.
