This year the International Army Games will expand its geography: China, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are ready to host a number of contests, Russian Defense Minister, Army General Sergei Shoigu said.
”This year a number of countries offered to host the International Army Games, which are gradually becoming a kind of the military Olympics. This year, six contests will be held in China, one - in Azerbaijan, and a few more - in Kazakhstan,’’ Shoigu said.
”The games are gaining momentum, becoming more and more popular and, most importantly, the developers and manufacturers of weapons are becoming interested in them,’’ TASS leads the words of the head of the Russian Defense Ministry.
The Russian Defense Ministry supports and develops twenty military-applied sports in addition to the tank biathlon, and it plans to expand the number of athletes, competing in the team sports, held under the auspices of the International Military Sports Council.
"For example, in the village of Terskol, where the Centre of Mountain Training and Survival is located, the sports facilities are being constructed and modernized,’’ Shoigu said, adding that the multi-level preparation for the games and the finalist selection system have a positive effect on maintaining the high combat readiness of units and formations.
