Iran and Armenia to construct joint power transmission line

Iran and Armenia have signed an agreement on construction of a third power transmission line connecting the energy systems of the two countries, local media reports.

It is reported that the cost of the contract amounts to 107 million euros. According to the project of construction, the power transmission line should be build in two years, its length will be 275 km. The new line will help triple the volume of mutual supplies of electricity.

It is expected that the construction works will be carried out by the Iranian contractor SUNIR.

With the help of this project, Iran will be able to connect to the energy systems of Georgia and Russia, which will expand the supply of electricity in Transcaucasia, Arka reports.
