Iran's position on support for the Syrian government remains unchanged, Ali Akbar Velayati, political advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said.
"We stand by the side of Syria and will provide it with all necessary assistance," he said in Damascus.
In addition, Velayati conveyed words of congratulations to the Syrian leadership from the Ayatollah and the entire Iranian leadership in connection with the major victories of the Syrian army in the battles against the terrorists of Islamic State, TASS reports.
