The Iranian Foreign Ministry has expressed its official protest to Saudi Arabia over the execution of three Iranians, who were convicted of drug smuggling.
The death sentences of the Iranians were carried out in the city of Dammam, the official Saudi Press Agency said.
"Countries refrain from executing such sentences by respecting bilateral relations and keeping in mind that implementing such sentences will not bear a positive effect on ties," an Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Hassan Qashqavi, said.
Iran has summoned Saudi Arabia’s charge d'affaires, RIA Novosti reported.
