Iran detains tanker in Strait of Hormuz

IRGC naval forces seized a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz that was attempting to smuggle oil. The vessel's crew consists of 16 sailors.

The IRGC Navy detained an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian media reports. Iranian authorities suspect an attempt to smuggle oil.

The IRGC noted that the tanker was carrying approximately 4 mln liters of fuel, which was intended to be transported without permission. 16 foreign sailors crewed the vessel.

The IRGC noted that the violation was recorded by the intelligence service. According to the available data, the tanker received cargo from smaller vessels. The fuel was intended for delivery to ships outside the Persian Gulf.
