Operatives of Iran have neutralized a chain of imminent assassination plots, Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib said.
"The planned attacks were meant to target Sunni clerics, judges and officers within the ranks of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," the minister said.
The attacks were allegedly set to be carried out simultaneously on September 30.
The ministry also announced that 400 bombs were discovered that were intended to detonate at various religious gatherings around the country.
