Natural gas supplies from Iran to Iraq have been completely halted due to unforeseen circumstances, according to Iraqi Ministry of Electricity spokesperson Ahmed Moussa, as reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

"The Iranian side sent a telegram informing the Ministry of Electricity of the complete cessation of gas supplies due to unforeseen circumstances",

Ahmed Moussa said.

Moussa added that the supply cut has resulted in energy losses of approximately 4,000-4,500 megawatts.

While Iraqi power plants have been impacted by the shortage, operations continue. The facilities are being supplied with local alternative fuels through a coordinated effort between Iraq's Ministry of Electricity and Ministry of Oil.
