Iranian President Hassan Rouhani proposed including the fight against terrorism in a legal international instrument in his speech at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.
According to him, the Middle East and North Africa have turned into one of the world's most turbulent regions. At the same time, the Iranian president considers it unfortunate for national uprisings in the region to be deviated by terrorists.
Rouhani said that Iran is prepared to assist in the eradication of terrorism and in paving the way for democracy in Syria and Iraq. "Today, while safeguarding its historic and cultural heritage, Iran is looking to the future, with a bright outlook for cooperation and coexistence," Gazeta.ru cited him as saying.
Also, the Iranian president said that Iran will not forget the past, but it do not wish to live in the past. "We will not forget war and sanctions but we look to peace and development. We want to propose recreating the international order based on mutual respect," Hassan Rouhani concluded.
