Russia and Iran have huge opportunities for cooperation in various areas, Kazem Jalali, the Iranian ambassador in Moscow, said in an interview with Rossiya-24 television.
"Iran and Russia have shown that they don’t care about sanctions," he said. "Sanctions will go away sooner or later, and we need to seriously cooperate. We have huge opportunities for cooperation."
Jalali named the North-South transport corridor as one of the key areas of cooperation. "The optimal route connecting East Asia and Europe is through Iran and Russia, so we must develop this route together," the ambassador said.
In addition, he named the energy and economic needs of both countries as important areas for the development of Russian-Iranian relations. "[Russia] needs fruits, vegetables, building materials, bags, shoes, leather products and other items," he said. "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to supply all that to Russia."
"We need cereals, technologies and much more that we can get in Russia," Jalali said.
