Iran to Trump: stop tweeting, it’s driving up oil prices

Iran’s OPEC governor Hossein Kazempour Ardebili said that US President Donald Trump had raised oil prices through his tweets.

"Your tweets have driven the prices up by at least $10 per barrel,” Ardebili said in a message to Trump, carried by Iranian Oil Ministry’s Shana news service. "Pls stop it, otherwise it will go even higher!"

Ardebili said Trump was trying to intensify tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia. He also called on the United States to join world powers in a meeting with Iran in Vienna on Friday.

"You are hammering on good guys in OPEC. You are actually discrediting them and undermining their sovereignty, we expect you to be more polite," Bloomberg cited him as saying.

"OPEC has not defined oil prices for the past 30 years," Kazempour added. "You impose sanctions on major producers, founders of OPEC, and yet you are asking them to reduce the prices?! Since when did you start ordering OPEC!"
