 Iran to run its largest methanol unit in March 2017

The country's biggest methanol producing unit Kaveh Petrochemical Facility will become operational in the year from March 21, 2017, the deputy oil minister for petrochemical affairs, Marzieh Shahdaei, said.

According to her, Iran's petrochemical production capacity has reached 60 million tons a year and within the next five years, the figure will go up to 100 million tons and rise further to 140 million tons in a decade, IRNA reports.

She added that National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NPC) has signed two deals with Total SA of France and Linde Group of Germany after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and also plans to sign two more deals with other companies in the near future.

Shahdaei said that the deals' time span is between 12 and 14 months and they will eventually be made into a contract.
