Iran is not developing nuclear weapons and is always ready for dialogue, provided it does not lead to "new problems", Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated following the UN Security Council's decision to reinstate sanctions against Iran.

The EU3 initiated the return of international sanctions due to the lack of progress in talks on Iran's nuclear program.

"Once again, I declare in this assembly that Iran has never sought to build nuclear weapons and will not do so. We are not seeking nuclear weapons, and this is a matter of belief and a fatwa from our leader; therefore, we have never pursued such weapons of mass destruction and will not do so",

Masoud Pezeshkian said.

The Iranian President also recalled that Tehran has consistently expressed its readiness for "a rational, fair, and criteria-based dialogue".

"However, we will never agree to negotiations that drag us into new problems",

Masoud Pezeshkian said.
