Iranian animated film Dolphin Boy reaches $1.8 mln in Russian ticket sales

Iranian animated film Dolphin Boy has become a box office hit in Russia with ticket sales reaching $1.8 million in only two weeks since its premier in the country.

A Wednesday report by Fars news agency said that Dolphin Boy, released on April 7, had been on screens in 270 theaters in Russia since early June.

“The international success for Dolphin Boy shows the Iranian animation film industry has a promising future,” Fars reported.

The film tells the story of a little boy who goes through an adventurous life in the sea after surviving a plane crash.  It is a product of the Sebyan Studio, the animation department of Iran’s Owj Arts and Media Organization.

Dolphin Boy is expected to debut in Iranian cinemas in September.
