Iraq's interior ministry blamed the Iranian authorities for allowing tens of thousands of Shiite pilgrims, traveling toward the city of Karbala to see the shrine of the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, Imam Hussain, to enter the country.
"We hold the Iranian side responsible because they did not fulfill their duties and obligations," RIA Novosti cited the statement as saying.
