Yesterday Yerevan hosted the opening ceremony of the Irina Rodnina sports school of figure skating, which was attended by President Serzh Sargsyan, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan and other officials.
"It is interesting that the first school of figure skating in my honor is opened not in Russia, but in Armenia, and I am grateful to the initiators. Russian figure skaters and hockey players will carry out master classes in the school. I'm also going to hold classes," Rodnina stated in her speech at the opening ceremony.
The sports school was constructed with the support of the president of the group of companies 'Monarch', the chairman of the charity fund 'Welfare', Sergey Hambardzumyan, and devolved to the Yerevan Municipality, Sputnik Georgia reports.
