Today, Samarkand hosted talks between Uzbek President Islam Karimov and US Secretary of State John Kerry, dedicated, first and foremost, to safety issues associated with the withdrawal of the NATO mission from Afghanistan.
According to gazeta.ru, Kerry stated that the US shares the fear of the Central Asian countries in connection with this matter and understands the scale of the problems arising in connection with the spread of extremist influences in the region, especially the influence of such groups as Islamic State and Al-Qaida.
