Islam Makhachev wins title of UFC lightweight champion

Islam Makhachev, a Russian mixed martial artist, on Saturday defeated Brazil’s Charles Oliveira, winning the title of the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion.

The fight took place at a UFC tournament in Abu Dhabi and ended in the Russian’s victory after he performed a choke in the second round.

Makhachev is the second Russian fighter to with the UFC lightweight title after Khabib Nurmagomedov.
