Islamic Development to finance major projects in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's Ambassador Nodirjon Turghunov held a meeting with Director of the Operations Policy and Services Department at the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Anasse Aissami.

The parties discussed further accelerating cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank, increasing preferential financing of major projects being developed in the country, supporting women and youth, as well as attracting technical and humanitarian assistance.

According to Aissami, the changes observed in Uzbekistan in recent years are being closely watched with great interest by the world.

Considering the successful implementation of the 2018-2022 cooperation strategy between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank, it was announced that a similar strategy has been developed for 2022-2026.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects for financing projects in areas such as transport, logistics, education, agriculture, water, environment, livestock, rural development, and others.

Additionally, the prospects for expanding the Islamic Development Bank's participation in important programs aimed at supporting women and youth in Uzbekistan were discussed.
