A Syrian source close to interim President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa, stated that the two nations may sign a security agreement in the near future.

The source noted that significant progress has been achieved in recent weeks, as reported by i24 News.

According to the same source, US President Donald Trump has played a key mediating role in bringing the parties closer to a final accord.

The potential agreement could be signed during a high-level meeting between Syrian and Israeli officials in a European country.

Al-Sharaa had previously confirmed that Syria is in an advanced stage of security negotiations with Israel.

However, the Israeli Foreign Minister refuted these reports in early December, stating that substantial differences between the sides persist.
