The Israel Azerbaijan International Association (AzIz), which is engaged in popularization of Azerbaijani history and culture, organised the Nasimi-650 festival, which will take place in a number of Israeli cities in May.
The main event of the festival will be a poetic competition. All persons interested can participate in it, regardless of the country of birth, the language and the poem's theme. More details can be found on the AzIz website.
In the first round, the best poets will be chosen by open voting among readers, and in the final round - by an international jury headed by director of the Maksud Ibragimbekov Center Anna Ibragimbekova. The winners will receive valuable prizes: a trip to Baku and tablets.
The last book by famous Azerbaijani writer Magsud Ibragimbekov will be presented at the festival by his wife Anna Ibragimbekova.
In addition, a meeting will be held with the authors of the Immolatio play - Czech poet Leyla Jafarova Begim and Israeli filmmaker Yefim Abramov. It is dedicated to two great protestants - Azerbaijani Imadaddin Nasimi and Czech Jan Hus, sharing the same destiny. The play was staged recently in Baku by a famous director, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Vagif Asadov, and was a great success.
The '7+7 Wonders of Azerbaijan' photo exhibition will be also held withing the festival.
This year marks the 650th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi, who wrote poems in Persian, Arabic and Azerbaijani languages.
