It is better to sign a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan in the coming weeks or months, the US believes. According to the assistant Secretary of State, this step can now yield important results.
Washington calls on Baku and Yerevan to finalize and sign a peace agreement as soon as possible, that is, in the coming weeks or months. This statement was made by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien in an interview to Armenian journalists.
The diplomat emphasized that the US expresses support for the legitimate aspirations of the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples for long-term peace.
He explained that now there is a chance to launch a trade corridor that would connect Central Asia and the Mediterranean Sea: such an opportunity appears only once every few generations.
However, O’Brien warned, it will only be possible if peace reigns between Baku and Yerevan.
